60: Higher Education CV19 Financial Impact and Change - with Dr. Dan Mahony, President, Southern Illinois University System
This is The EdUp Experience, President Series Episode #16 - In this episode, we welcome Dr. Dan Mahony, President of Southern Illinois University System. Dan began his role as President of SIU system on March 1st, 2020 right at the start of the CV19 pandemic as we know it. He talks to us about the enormous financial impact the pandemic has had on his university system, including that the costs to reopen could be greater than going all online. Also, Dan talks about equity and why we need to think differently about how scholarships are awarded.
Dr. Daniel F. Mahony began his tenure as the 10th president of the Southern Illinois University System on March 1, 2020. Bringing his student-focused, transparent and data-driven style to the SIU campuses, Dr. Mahony began his tenure by signing the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion Pledge to foster an even greater sense of openness and respect for others as president of the multi-campus university system.
