Welcome back to America’s leading higher education podcast! This is The EdUp Experience President Series Episode #86. In this episode, sponsored by MDT Marketing, we welcome Dr. Kristine H. Strickland, Chancellor, Fletcher Technical Community College! Kristine talks to us about community colleges and why they are necessary to serve specific areas - geographically and for particular education levels. She talks about the great advice she received when she was climbing the ranks, and why she thinks having operational expertise is necessary for college presidents today and moving forward. Kristine says that the educational institution needs to bring education to the student, and provide wraparound services, so leaving education isn't the thing students eliminate from their lives because it's convenient. She says that NOW is the time for female leadership in higher education.
Dr. Kristine Strickland serves as Chancellor of Fletcher Technical Community College and over 6,000 credit students in the Bayou Region of Louisiana. She has been in executive level positions for 25 years.
Dr. Strickland also serves on the Board of Trustees for SACSCO, is an Executive Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce, and is part of the South Central Industrial Association.
Dr. Strickland earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from Ohio University and a Doctorate in Leadership for Higher Education. Dr. Strickland is an alumna of the Harvard University Institute of Higher Education Management and New President’s Institute
