114: The Responsibility of Service in Higher Education - with Dr. Julie White, President, Pierce College Fort Steilacoom

This is The EdUp Experience President Series Episode #36 - In this episode of The EdUp Experience, we talk with Dr. Julie White President of Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.  Julie is at the forefront of creating an anti-racist institution by committing to access, diversity, and acknowledging that students are devoid of basic services due to CV-19.  She also discusses how students have been affected by our politically charged environment and how we have to understand, as administrators, how outside issues affect student's mental health.

Dr. Julie White joined the college in July as Pierce College Fort Steilacoom’s new president, relocating from Syracuse, New York. She previously served as senior vice president of student engagement and learning support at Onondaga Community College. White has spent the past 25 years in higher education, with roles in student services, academic administration, research administration, health education and women’s services. We sat down with her to learn a little more about her journey in higher education that led her to Pierce College.
